Jay McCarthy, nouveau leader

Âgé de seulement 21 ans, Thomas Palmer (Drapac Professional Team) s'est adjugé au sprint la 4ème étape du New Zealand Cycle Classic. Il devance Jay McCarthy (Team Jayco - AIS) et Patrick Bevin (Hudson Gavin Martin). Grâce au jeu des bonifications, McCarthy prend la tête du général et possède désormais 3 secondes d'avance sur Darren Lapthorne (Drapac Professional Team).
